It is with deep sadness that the family of Marilyn “Marnie” Walsh announce her passing on April 8, 2026, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital.
Marnie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family meant everything to her. She will be remembered for her full of energy and full of laughter personality, her devotion to her family, and the deep love she shared with those closest to her. She found joy in both life’s biggest moments and its simplest pleasures, whether it was hearing about her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s day, her daily phone calls with her sister, spending time surrounded by family and friends, or attending church. She was always fully present and deeply grateful. Marnie didn’t just live life, she embraced it wholeheartedly. If she could leave us with one message, it would be this: God gave us the gift of life, so cherish it and live it fully each and every day.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald Walsh, and her sister, Beverly Nugent.
Marnie is lovingly remembered by her children: Shawn Walsh (Tanya) of Bathurst, NB, and Tawnya Cooper (Wally) of Stewiacke, NS. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Nikitta Kenny (Ryan), Dallas Walsh (Mikella), Jayden Doucet, Austin Cooper, Calla Benjamin, and Aven Benjamin; and by her cherished great-grandchildren: Oliver and Vivienne. She is also survived by her sister, Jacqueline St. Pierre, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Chaleur Regional Hospital for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Marnie during her time there. Their support and dedication brought comfort to both Marnie and her family, and it will always be remembered with deep appreciation.
A celebration of Marnie’s life will be held at the Elhatton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday May 15th, 2026, at 2 p.m. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton Funeral Home, Bathurst.
For those wishing to send expressions of sympathy, donations in Marnie’s memory may be made to the Holy Family Catholic Church.
Marnie’s love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
