It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Arthur “Art” Ward, which occurred on Saturday July 11, 2026, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, at the age of 68.

Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Harper Ward and the late Mary (Jones) Ward.

He leaves behind his three children: Britney Ward and Aaron Ward (Janick) both of Middle River, Chris Garrett of Bathurst.

Three grandchildren: Logan Garrett, Harper Ward and Kaleb Ward.

Sisters: Marjorie (late Elzear) Aube, Joyce (late Lorenzo) Aube, Shirley (Levis) Aube, Linda Ward all of Middle River and Gloria (Sonny) Jones of Big River.

One brother: Duncan (Caroline) of Middle River.

His significant other Carol Koepke.

The mother of his children and wife of 32 years Gail Ward.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Gary.

Art has been a guitarist, singer, songwriter in the Bathurst community for over 50 years. He was also a heavy equipment operator at the Bathurst Mill and then the head custodian at Terry Fox elementary school. He also had a passion for his hobby farm taking care of his special horse “Maddie”.

Visitation will be held from Elhatton’s Funeral Home on Wednesday July 15, 2026, from 7-9. Funeral service will be held from the First United Church, Bathurst on Thursday July 16 at 11 a.m.

Donations in memory of Art may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
