Bathurst – Mrs. Janice Smith, wife of the late Donald W. Smith, of Bathurst, passed away Wednesday August 26, 2026, at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, at the age of 82.

Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Selma (Mitton) Barron. 

She is survived by her children: Krista Metcalfe (Peter) of Lower Sackville, NS and Darren Smith (Dianne) of Mill River, P.E.I.  

Proud grandmother of Noah, Jonathan, Jacob, Matthew, Nathan, Thomas and Benjamin.  

One sister, Arlene Barron of Halifax, NS.

Several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she was pre-deceased by sister, Elle Sutherland. 

The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 3 pm to 5 pm at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Service will be held on Monday August 31, 2026, at 1 p.m. from Elhatton’s Funeral Home Chapel, Bathurst.

 Donations in memory of Donald may be made to the Campbellton Baptist Church, St. Luke’s Presbeterien Church or a favorite charity.
