Robert Anand Murphy, beloved son of Wendy Murphy and stepson of Ronald McKay, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday October 8, 2026. Born in Bathurst, he was the youngest of three boys and a twin to Patrick John Murphy (who sadly went missing in Guyana, SA in 2008). He was predeceased by his father Daniel Patrick Murphy in 2008.

Other than his mother and stepfather, he is survived by his brother Michael Donald Murphy (Valerie Hunting Murphy) and stepsisters Janet McKay and Cynthia McKay (Chris Doucet) and his sweet chocolate lab Zoé.

He will be sadly missed by his maternal aunts Sandra Furlotte, Karen Richard (Marc) and uncle Darren Furlotte (Michelle), his paternal aunt Sharon Williams (John), as well as by his Bathurst and Miramichi cousins and his many good, close friends.

Robert was a very loving, thoughtful son and a plumber by trade. He was a charming story teller and had a huge heart. He was a very loyal friend and was quick to offer a helping hand at every opportunity without any expectations. He took great pride in providing reliable solutions and in being considerate of his customers' budget constraints. His wonderful sense of humor, quick wit and beautiful smile were second to none. There wasn't a loophole that would slip past him undetected.  

There will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Family church. Additional details will be shared as they become available. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
