It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norman H. Conde, age 75, of Bathurst, New Brunswick, on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Chaleur Regional Hospital.
Norman was a kind and thoughtful man who dedicated 35 years to the field of education. He began his career at St. Thomas University as Director of Student Affairs and later served as Assistant to the President. He went on to spend the next 30 years teaching at Bathurst High School. Norman gave so much to the school community beyond the classroom, volunteering his time to run the Gwendolyn Kent Auditorium and coaching and managing numerous sports teams. He made a difference in the lives of many students and will be fondly remembered by the colleagues and students who knew him throughout his career.
Above all, Norman loved his family. He cherished time spent with his wife and daughters, family camping trips, vacations to Disney, and the years spent living at the beach. His four grandchildren, Alexa, Luke, Drew and Anna, were a special part of his life. Known to them as Papa, he loved keeping up with their activities and cheering them on, whether he could be there in person or was following along on GameChanger. Being part of their lives and supporting them however he could brought him great joy.
Norman also appreciated the simple pleasures in life, especially a good coffee, a crisp Diet Pepsi, making homemade pizza and enjoying a sweet treat (especially cherry balls).
Norman will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Kathleen (Coldwell) Conde; his daughters, Heather (Conde) Chamberlain and her husband, Adam Chamberlain, and Sarah (Conde) Conde-MacDonald and her husband, Daniel MacDonald; and his beloved grandchildren, Alexa, Luke, Drew and Anna.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Chaleur Regional Hospital, as well as the Extra-Mural and Homecare programs, for the kindness, compassion and care they provided to Norman and his family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 23, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Gowan Brae Golf and Country Club.
Norman will be deeply missed by his family, friends, former colleagues, students and all those whose lives he touched.
Donations in his memory can be made to the local SPCA or the Canadian Cancer Society.
